With luxury hotels, scenic routes and endless attractions, the West Coast is a dream destination for families and couples alike.

Top Attraction – Alcatraz & the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

Our journey began in San Francisco, where visiting Alcatraz Prison was a fascinating and memorable highlight. We also watched the playful sea lions at Fisherman’s Wharf and took in the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, a must-see landmark that perfectly captures the charm and character of the city.

Must See & Do – California’s Coastal Highway

One of the most breathtaking parts of our trip was driving the legendary Pacific Coast Highway. From the beautiful shoreline of Monterey, where we spent time on the beach, to our stop at Pismo Beach, the journey was filled with sweeping ocean views and charming coastal towns. We finished our adventure in Los Angeles, where we drove up to the Hollywood sign, explored the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and spent an unforgettable day at Disneyland—a dream come true for our son, especially with all things Cars themed. Our stay at The Garland was fantastic, offering style, comfort and the perfect base to explore L.A.

Traveller Tip

The West Coast is ideal for a road-trip style holiday, especially for families. Plan your driving days to include plenty of scenic stops, and stay in hotels with great family-friendly facilities—like pools, spacious rooms and on-site dining—to make the journey smooth and enjoyable. Booking popular attractions, such as Alcatraz and Disneyland, in advance ensures you make the most of every destination along the way.
