Do you need a visa to travel to Europe?
Sometimes — it depends on which European country you are travelling to and how long you plan to stay. Here’s a breakdown for travellers from the UK:
For many European countries in the Schengen Area (which includes many of the places you mention — e.g. Spain, France, Greece, Portugal, Czechia, Denmark, etc.), UK passport-holders do not need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days in any 180-day period) for tourism, business, or similar visits. That said, the EU is implementing a new border-control system: from 12 October 2025, the Entry/Exit System (EES) will require biometric entry/exit checks for non-EU nationals — including UK passport-holders — when entering Schengen countries. GOV.UK+1
Furthermore, a new pre-travel authorisation scheme, ETIAS, is expected to become mandatory for UK travellers (and other non-EU nationals) visiting Schengen countries for short stays — but as of now it is not yet required. DavidsonMorris | Solicitors+1
In short: For the kinds of European holidays you offer (tourist stays up to ~90 days), UK travellers usually don’t need a visa — but soon you’ll need to comply with new border-entry rules (EES) and likely obtain ETIAS authorisation.
